Opposite the Stará Myslivna restaurant with its famous venison and near the Konopiště Chateau you can pet the spotted fallow deer, Sika deer and mouflon in the built-in game preserve.
In Konopiště near Benešov, a wonderful project to promote hunting education was implemented. A game preserve for forest animals has been created here, which is located in the former castle park directly between the Konopiště castle and the building of the stylish hunting restaurant Stará Myslivna.
The basic idea behind this project was to create a game preserve as a symbolic link between the live game and the history of Konopiště Castle, the last owner of the castle, F.F. d'Este, his life's passion and the game offer of the Stará Myslivna restaurant. Another ambition of this project is to create an educational place popularising hunting and forest game, to try to shift the perception of the young generation in this area and to introduce them to the importance, history and unique position of Czech hunting in the history of world hunting.
The selection of game for the game preserve is based not only on the biological, non-conflicting coexistence of individual game species, but also on the coexistence of game and the surrounding nature in order to avoid the devastation of the forest, as well as on the historical context and tradition of hunting in the local area and the attractiveness of these animals to the audience. The game in this enclosure is selected from tame farms where it is used to the presence of humans. Three species have been chosen for the enclosure - spotted deer, Dybowski's sika deer and mouflon.
